He will revel as much as you in the freedom of the open country and the excitement of a brisk gallop. A horse vacation is a real vacation and not just a pale Disneyland parody on reality. It is real. You and the horse are the ones doing it. You are responsible for the mistakes you make and you reap the benefits of the things you do right. You don’t just sit in a boat and watch the pirates chase people around. You need to stay with your horse and keep your balance correctly or you may end up on the ground. What kind of narcissistic relationship can come from an attachment to a sports car which could care less who drives it or how well it is driven.
